How to Pick the Right Persian Rug Pad
By DoItYourself Staff
When purchasing a Persian rug, you will also need to buy a Persian rug pad. Since the rug pad will not only keep your rug secure on the floor, but can also prolong the life of your rug, you want to make sure that you buy the right pad.
Rug pads come in a variety of thickness depending on your personal preference. The thicker the pad, the more cushioning provided. If you prefer walking on hard surfaces, you will want to stick with a thinner Persian rug pad.
Rug pads can be made of rubber, felt, polyester or synthetic urethane foam. Rubber pads can crack overtime, or become stuck to the back of the rug, while the urethane foam pads don’t provide the best support and can be overly soft. A 3/8” polyester felt pad provides support and is long lasting. Ask about our black padding.
Make sure that you get a Persian rug pad that is smaller than the actual rug by about an inch, fringe not included. This will keep the pad hidden while prevent the corners of the rug from curling or bunching up.
